Residences, Offices and a Fairmont Hotel in Mecidiyeköy

Quasar İstanbul is a mixed-use development on Büyükdere Caddesi in Mecidiyeköy, Şişli, in central Istanbul. It was developed by the Viatrans-Meydanbey joint venture on the site of the city's historic liquor factory, and designed by Emre Arolat Architects. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders created the interiors of the Quasar Residences, and the American firm Wilson Associates designed the Fairmont Residences.

The scheme consists of two towers of about 40 floors on a four-storey podium. One tower contains the Fairmont Quasar Istanbul hotel and the Fairmont Residences, the other the Quasar Residences and offices. Published project figures give 257 residences, 58 offices, 17 shops and four cafés. The Skyscraper Center records the towers as completed in 2016, and the hotel opened in 2017.

The scheme also takes in the site's liquor factory building from the early 1930s, designed by the French architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, which Emre Arolat's practice set out to rebuild in keeping with its original design. The project received DGNB Gold pre-certification under the German sustainable building standard.

Location and Transport

Mecidiyeköy is one of the most central business districts in Istanbul, where Büyükdere Caddesi starts its run north to Zincirlikuyu, Levent and Maslak. It is an interchange for the M2 and M7 metro lines, and the metrobus runs along the D-100 highway, which continues to the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Asian side.

The Cevahir and Trump Towers shopping centres are in the Mecidiyeköy area, and Nişantaşı and Bomonti are close by. Fairmont gives the distance to Istanbul Airport as about 42 km and to Sabiha Gökçen Airport as about 40 km.

Published layouts run from 1+1 to 5+1, with residence sizes of about 116 m² to 518 m². The Quasar Residences were designed by Marcel Wanders in three interior themes and the Fairmont Residences by Wilson Associates in two.

The development shares its site with a five-star hotel, and facilities on site include:
