Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking

Who writes our guides, where the facts come from, how figures are kept current, how we use AI tools and translations, and how to report an error.

People make decisions worth hundreds of thousands of dollars after reading our guides, so we hold them to the standard of advice we would give a client in person. This page explains who writes them, where the facts come from, how we keep them current and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

Who is responsible

Every guide, service page and article on this site is published under the name and responsibility of Burak Ünal, licensed real estate broker (authorisation no. 3408704, Ministry of Trade). His background is set out on his author page and on our licence and credentials page.

Where the facts come from

  • Law and procedure: the legislation itself, from the official legislation database, and the authorities that apply it: the land registry, the tax administration, the Presidency of Migration Management, the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and the regulators named in our citizenship guides. Each guide lists its sources at the end.
  • Market figures: published price indices and listing data, named where we use them, checked against the transactions we handle ourselves.
  • Projects: developers' documents and our own visits; project pages are listings, and we are a broker, not the developer.

How we keep figures current

  • Thresholds and fees that change by law (the citizenship and residence permit thresholds, the title deed fee, tax rates) are kept in one registry. The site cannot be published if a page states an outdated value that has been found and corrected before, such as the pre-2022 citizenship threshold.
  • Market figures that move quickly, such as prices per square metre, are re-checked at least every four months.
  • Each guide shows the date it was last updated.

How we write

  • Answer first: the short answer comes before the explanation, and the key points are summarised.
  • Plain language, with Turkish legal terms explained the first time they appear.
  • No promises we cannot keep: we do not guarantee citizenship, returns or prices.
  • We use research, writing and translation tools, including AI, to help draft and translate content. A licensed broker is responsible for every page we publish, and figures are checked against our registry and official sources.

Translations

Most guides are written in English and published in Turkish, French, Russian, Arabic and Chinese. If a translated guide differs from the English, the English is the reference. Our legal texts are the exception: there, the Turkish version prevails.

Independence

We are paid by brokerage fees, disclosed on our fees page. Where a developer pays us a commission on a new-build sale, we tell the buyer. We do not accept payment to feature a project in a guide, and the reviews we show are genuine Google reviews that we neither write nor pay for.

Not personal advice

Our guides are general information. Your situation may differ, and rules change, so confirm anything you rely on with us, or with an independent lawyer or tax adviser, before you act.

Corrections

If you find an error, email contact@bosphorusbrokers.com with the page address. We check every report, correct the page if we were wrong, and update its date.
