Terraced Residences Above Kanyon in Levent

Kanyon Residences are the 179 homes inside Kanyon, the mixed-use complex on Büyükdere Caddesi in Levent, Istanbul. Kanyon was developed as an equal joint venture between İş GYO, the real estate investment trust of the İşbank group, and the Eczacıbaşı Group, and designed by The Jerde Partnership with Tabanlıoğlu Architects.

The complex brings together an open-air shopping street, an office tower and a stepped residential block on a four-level retail podium. Tabanlıoğlu Architects describe the residential part as a 15-storey block at split levels, with 179 apartments in 20 floor plans of about 80 m² to 380 m². Kanyon opened on 30 May 2006 after five years of design and construction, so the building is complete and lived in. The address is Büyükdere Caddesi No:185, Esentepe, in the Şişli district.

Location and Transport

Kanyon stands in the Levent business district on Büyükdere Caddesi, the avenue that runs from Zincirlikuyu north to Maslak. Its immediate neighbour is the MetroCity complex, and the İş Kuleleri towers, home to İş GYO's head office, are also in Levent.

Kanyon has an underground connection to Levent metro station, where the M2 line meets the M6. M2 runs south through Gayrettepe and Şişli-Mecidiyeköy to Taksim and Yenikapı, and north through 4. Levent towards Maslak and Hacıosman, while M6 serves Etiler and Boğaziçi Üniversitesi. The nearest metrobus stop is Zincirlikuyu, at the southern end of Büyükdere Caddesi, which also connects to the 15 July Martyrs (Bosphorus) Bridge and the O-1 ring road.

Homes and Amenities

Because the residential block steps back as it rises, many units have private balconies, terraces or gardens, and the planted terraces and roofs look over the open-air shopping street. Layouts range from compact homes of around 80 m² to family residences of about 380 m², and we confirm the room count and areas of each unit from its documents before you view.

The architects' description of the lower levels lists shops, a cinema with nine screens, a supermarket, restaurants, cafés and a sports and spa centre, linked by an outdoor walkway with courtyards and fountains. Building services, the monthly management fee (aidat) and parking are set by the building management, and we check them for each unit before an offer.
